A yachting paradise
The calm waters and cooling trade winds have earned the Bahamas an international reputation for
boating. And indeed, these islands provide some of the best yachting in the world.
The islands offer gorgeous waters and
a seemingly endless array of uninhabited cays, inaccessible by any
other means than by boat.
Even around the most popular
islands you can drop anchor at some remote spot and enjoy sunny,
silent swimming and snorkeling far from the shore.
Ideal weather
The best time to charter a yacht in the Bahamas is from Mid December to
Mid May. However, mild temperatures and warm water make the Bahamas a
great destination for charters year around.
Hurricane season is from June to November.
There is rain year-round. However, heavy showers pass
through quickly. So the rain never ruins your day. May and June are the
rainy months and the northern islands typically receive twice the
amount of rain as the southern islands.
Some geography
Nassau and Paradise island
Nassau, the capital city, is found on New Providence Island and two
bridges conveniently link neighboring Paradise Island and its 685 acres
of extraordinary beauty. This bustling island pair offers a mixture of
attractions, fine dining, fresh fish markets, water sports and boutique
shopping. Paradise Island is dominated by the iconic Paradise hotel, a kitchy temple for a tropical Las Vegas.
Grand Bahama
is a large island with several eco-systems but of less interest to the yachting community.
The Out Islands
The Out Islands give new meaning to getting away. These 698 secluded islands
are home to some of the world’s most amazing beaches, dive sites and
fishing sites. Here, nature easily outnumbers man. The Out islands are made out of several groups of islands, each of them very attractive cruising areas.
The Abaco's
Known as one of the boating captials of the world, with quaint colonial towns, three golf courses, miles and miles of
stellar beaches, great fishing and diving, and a wonderful selection of
hotels and resorts, restaurants and bars, these islands are the most
complete vacation destination in The Bahamas Out Islands.
The Exumas
The Exumas are an archipelago of 365 cays and islands, beginning just 35
miles southeast of Nassau, an exotic collection of tiny jewels set in
the most beautiful aquamarine and sapphire water you’ve ever imagined.
Great Exuma Island, together with the Exuma Cays offer an amazing
variety of vacation possibilities, from resorts and hotels with luxury
amenities to basic fishing lodges. Hidden coves, bays, and harbours
throughout are magnets for yachts and sport fishermen.
