Wooden motorsailers, or gulets, were once used by local fishermen and spongedivers throughout the Mediterranean. Their wooden "gullets" or "caïcos" are now designed specially for charter holidays.
The largest fleet is available in Turkey where the construction of those motorsailers is still very active, but we have also wooden motorsailers available in Greece, in Croatia, in Corsica, along the French and the Italian Riviera, and in the Spanish Balearics.
Those motorsailers range from 16 to 36 meters and can accommodate up to 20 persons in spacious double cabins. Every cabin has its own shower and toilet facilities.
Although gulets are rigged as sailing boats, they generally make use of engine power, since the daily points of destination are close-by. Nevertheless when there is a favourable wind, it is also possible to set sails and enjoy the pleasure of sailing with the soft Mediterranean breeze.
